New York State Movers & Warehousemen's Association is the acknowledged leader and liason of New York's Moving & Storage Industry. For over 90 years, this association has been working hard for the benefit of New York's moving companies, suppliers, and the general public.

NYSMWA is responsible for many achievements over the years benefitting licensed household goods movers. Here are just a few highlights:

• NYSMWA is responsible for effecting the creation of the "Warehouseman's Lien Law", which is superior to most other liens and helps to ensure the warehouseman's rights are protected.
• NYSMWA proposed the non-CDL pilot program to the NYS Dept. of Transportation, working with them to coordinate elements of the program, allowing for non-CDL drivers to operate vehicles with a GVW up to 25,999 lbs. This rule is in effect today.
• NYSMWA worked closely with the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance to develop guidelines for movers to determine what services are taxable.
• NYSMWA worked with NYS Dept. of Transportation to amend outdated regulations, eliminating some of the paperwork or forms required to perform a move in NYS.
• NYSMWA is responsible for NYS Dept. of Transportation's requirement that all licensed movers have a physical location in the state, thereby eliminating the unfair advantage created when movers in states with lower costs perform work in NYS.

Lower Workers' Compensation Insurance Rates

NYSMWA lowers worker's compensation insurance rates when members use the New York State Movers and Warehousemen's Safety Group # 251 program with the Lovell Safety Management Company.

Conventions & Trade Shows

Our format for all conventions consists of general business sessions on Friday and Saturday mornings. Afternoons are devoted to fun with recreational activities for the whole family. Each year the program is designed to benefit all that attend.
