NYSM&WA Holds Annual Conference

The New York State Movers & Warehousemen’s Association held its 93rd Annual convention this past September 26th through 28th at the Equinox Golf Resort & Spa, in Manchester Village, VT.  A round of golf, followed by a welcome reception on the 26th, kicked off the event as guests enjoyed refreshments and caught up with fellow movers, industry suppliers and event speakers.

The Association’s educational program took place on the following day when guest speakers discussed current and important industry issues. Association President, Glenn Coyne, started the program off by welcoming everyone to the event and talking a bit about the Association’s current efforts.  Attendees heard from NYS Dept. of Transportation representatives, Mariko Holloman and Kevin Gardner, as well as IAM’s Chuck White.

For the last part of our program attendees were split into three groups and a “round table” format was used to facilitate continued discussions on “Virtual Sales”, “Measuring the Customer Experience” and “legislative efforts at the national level”.  Dick Scaffa, National Van Lines, AJ Schneider, the Wheaton Group and Ryan Bowley, ATA’s Moving & Storage Conference, each participated in back and forth discussions in a small group setting.   Coffee and refreshments were served throughout the day’s program, while attendees took the opportunity to meet and talk with event exhibitors and peers.  Following Lunch, the group enjoyed an afternoon of axe throwing! It was a great day of learning industry best practices, catching up with old friends and making new ones!

During the evening’s banquet dinner, two long-time Association Board members were recognized for their extensive efforts and dedication to the moving and storage industry.  Thank you to Dick Nilsson, B&N Moving, and Timothy Palisano, Lincoln Moving & Storage, for your years of service!!
